Product Description
This antique reproduction sextant is stamped “Stanley London,” after W. F. Stanley of Stanley & Co. in London, who made precision instruments one hundred years ago. The sextant comes with a beautiful handcrafted display and storage box. The box bears a brass tag reading “Stanley London 1885.”
This sextant adds sophisticated warmth to an office and makes a wonderful gift for friends, collectors, and corporate executives.
This brass sextant looks like a turn-of-the-century antique. The 4-inch (10 cm) radius brass sextant has a slow-motion control to allow fine adjustment of the inclination angle. The sextant measures 4 5/8 inches (11.7 cm) tall, 4 1/2 inches (11.4 cm) wide, 2 1/2 inches (6.3 cm) deep and weighs 12.3 ounces (346 grams). A built-in magnifier can be swung into position to assist in reading the German Silver vernier scale, and there are six swing-arm filters.
While this model is functional, it is not intended for navigation. They are perfect for the collector or the beginner interested in learning celestial navigation.
If you plan on handling the sextant much, you will really appreciate how the antique finish does not show fingerprints or require polishing.
