Scares That Care weekend 2

by on Jul.28, 2015, under News

The Macabre minions attended the Scares That Care weekend convention 2 recently in Williamsburg, VA. This is a great horror convention which brings together those who love the genre in order to collect money to help those less fortunate. So many people assume that fans are flakey or that those who love the horror genre have no compassion because they like seeing blood and gore – NOT SO. This convention proves it hands down that both the fans and those on the creation side of the genre are all loving giving people who will happily give their all to help others.

We increased our product line for this year adding more purses and jewelry. We also went for a larger space so we could create a walk in store feel for our customers. It proved to be a great idea. Folks were able to come in, touch and feel the merchandise and interact with us better than only across the table.

The convention itself was a blast. So many nice people to meet. Celebrities wandering the halls and the vendor room, what more could you ask?

Our Crypt Queen (who happens to be our in house jeweler) made  a handful of original necklaces. One was given to the convention for the silent auction to help raise money for the charity. The rest: 2 white chokers, a blue necklace and a black sparkly necklace with an enormous stone skull, were for sale at the table.

We met fun cosplayers, a merman and even a headless statue wandering the halls. C’mon, you know it sounds fun, check it out next year at Scares That Care Weekend 3

We can hardly wait to do it again next year.
