Halloween 2018

by on Oct.28, 2018, under News

Happy Halloween my ghoulish friends. That’s right the holiday is finally upon us and the staff at Macabre Mercantile have decorated their abode for the season.
A lot of their decor was purged in the great moving sale in VA but they kept the best items and have put them out.

This will probably be their only chance to do trick or treat before opening the store so they are really excited to have all the little monsters in the neighborhood stop by on Halloween night. Next year Halloween will be a major event at our Vegas storefront.

Oh BTW our favorite author Edmund de Wight is giving away a free book as part of All Hallows Read. Go to his Facebook page and comment on the pinned post to get one of 10 free copies.

Macabre Mercantile vs Wildlife

by on Oct.10, 2018, under News

The Macabre Mercantile staff decided on an excursion that was not so spooky. We traveled to the northern side of Vegas to beautiful Floyd Lamb park at Tule Springs.

This is a historic 2,040-acre (830 ha) park in Las Vegas, Nevada. The park is centered on Tule Springs, a series of small lakes that formed an oasis in this part of the Mojave Desert. One of the larger urban retreats in the Las Vegas Valley, Tule Springs was once considered to be far out of town but is now encroached by development. The park includes the Tule Springs Ranch, Tule Springs Archaeological Site, Tule Springs Wash and four ponds available for fishing. (from Wikipedia)

We love going there just to enjoy nature and look at the cool animals. There are peacocks galore, geese, ducks, rabbits and this time we even spotted a road runner.
We took a couple pictures of peacocks and rabbits but the road runner was WAY too fast for a good picture and the geese were busy chasing each other to get to the ranger with the food so no pics there.
We also visited the historic adobe house which used to serve as a way point back in the old days.

Order fulfillment on hold until Oct 21

by on Oct.08, 2018, under News

Hi all.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, what with Halloween just around the corner, but our staff has had an emergency come up out of town and will be travelling.

We won’t have access to our products to fulfill orders until we return – we should be back no later than October 20.

The store is still up and running but if you place an order, please realize we will not be able to fulfill it and ship until October 21.

Thank you for your understanding and patience while we sort out this minor mess.  We’ll still be accessing Facebook, Twitter and our email ( service@macabremercantile.com ) if you have a question for us or just want to say hi. We’ll keep you updated on our progress.

Lowering the cost of shipping

by on Sep.08, 2018, under News

Hello my lovely ghoul-friends.

I just wanted to pop in for a quick chat and let you know something wonderful that has happened on our web store.

The ever industrious Media Minion spent many hours armed with a calculator, a computer and many visits to the US Post Office and has managed to restructure the way that Macabre Mercantile ships products.

In the past we utilized the basic post office interface which calculated priority mail prices based on weight. This quite often ended up presenting you with very high shipping charges. I know I’ve been told that a few folks were dissuaded from ordering because of that. Well we learned a lesson from Amazon and have lowered our shipping costs.

There are several tiers of shipping which will be automatically calculated as you shop.

Small items which do not weigh much will only cost $3 to ship. Medium sized items like our statuary will be $5 and very large or heavy items such as our decanter sets would only cost $10 shipping. In the past the post office would calculate these items for as much as $20 to ship.

BUT WAIT

The Minion realized that wasn’t enough incentive. All items which cost $100 or more are automatically free to ship. So if you order a $100 item – free shipping. If you order a $100 item and a book – the book is the only thing you’ll pay shipping on.

THAT STILL WASN’T ENOUGH

As a final perk to you, our favorite wickedly decadent shoppers, any order that totals $150 or more automatically gets free shipping.

Now to do this we didn’t jack prices through the roof. Nope, we still have amazingly affordable prices. A tiny bump here and there offsets the change to our shipping prices but still allows you to get the best items for the best prices. Now is the best time to indulge you craving for that steampunk statue or designer purse.

Happy shopping.
